AP23487324 – Teaching Kazakh to Turkic-speaking students in translingual aspect based on digital technologies
Objective of the project – The plan aims to uncover fresh facets for Turkic learners in mastering Kazakh, fostering communication skills in the national language, integrating translingual learning in modern linguodidactics, exploring communicants' strategies, nurturing transcultural competencies, and crafting an innovative, tech-driven teaching framework.
Relevance: The relevance of the project is driven by the growing number of students from Turkic-speaking countries studying at universities in Kazakhstan, which increases the need for effective teaching of the Kazakh language. Currently, there is a lack of educational resources for teaching Kazakh as a foreign language. There is a particularly acute shortage of a methodological system for teaching Kazakh to Turkic-speaking students of technical universities using a translanguaging approach. The conditions of digitalization require the integration of new technologies into the language learning process. The use of a translanguaging approach allows consideration of linguistic similarities and improves learning efficiency. Therefore, the development of a digital methodological system for teaching the Kazakh language is a relevant and in-demand task.

Expected and achieved results: During the project, the approaches to teaching the Kazakh language to Turkic-speaking learners were analyzed, and the methodological foundations of the translanguaging approach were defined. A review and systematization of domestic and international research in the field of language teaching were carried out, and modern educational technologies were examined. Scientific seminars were organized, and research visits were conducted to leading universities in Kazakhstan and abroad, which enabled the collection and discussion of relevant scientific materials. Scientific cooperation was established with Kazan Federal University, facilitating experience exchange and comparative research. A Kazakhstan-specific model for teaching Kazakh to Turkic-speaking students based on the translanguaging approach was developed. Special learning tasks were created to develop all types of speech activity and to form intercultural competence. Educational materials at the A1 level were prepared, including texts, exercises, as well as audio and video materials accessible via QR codes. The obtained results were reflected in scientific publications and formed the basis for the development of a modern textbook.
