AP22788965 – Development of methods for assessing the remaining resource and repair of Kazakhstan's gas transmission lines
Objective of the project: Creation of a monitoring and control system for main gas pipelines in Kazakhstan, which will allow timely identification of pipeline sections with an increased risk of corrosion failure, as well as optimize planned repair work.
Relevance: The project is relevant due to the deterioration of Kazakhstan's main gas pipelines, the high risk of corrosion damage and the need to improve the reliability and safety of the gas transmission system. Modern monitoring and forecasting methods make it possible to identify defects in a timely manner, reduce accidents and optimize operating costs.
Scientific supervisor: Ph.D., Bakesheva Aigul
Expected and achieved results: Within the scope of the task, a comprehensive set of computational, analytical, and experimental studies was conducted to evaluate the strength characteristics of pipelines and analyze corrosion process development. Based on the assessment of stress–strain conditions, a mathematical model describing corrosion cracking evolution was developed. The model incorporates both operational and metallurgical parameters, enabling highly accurate prediction of corrosion risks. Metallographic analysis of main pipeline samples from QazaqGaz JSC was performed to identify key material structural features. As a result, modeling approaches for corrosion dynamics were improved. Software was developed to implement the proposed model in practical applications. The obtained results are aimed at improving the reliability and safety of pipeline systems.
