AP22686732 – Improving the efficiency of the fractionation process of spent drilling fluids of technological wells for disposal using dispersing devices

Project goal: Development of an environmentally efficient method of disposal of spent clay drilling mud by using dispersing devices to activate reagents and accelerate fractionation of the solution.

Relevance of the project: The project provides for the disposal of SDM, the creation of an installation and the development of a method for further disposal of SDM with the aim of: reducing the volume of drilling waste transported to slurry tanks, reducing material and financial costs associated with both transportation and storage of SDM, and reducing the negative impact on the environment.

Scientific supervisor: Ph.D., Bulbul K. Mauletbekova

The results obtained: The conducted research substantiated the design of a dispersing device and resulted in a patent application submission. The operating principle of the hydrodynamic disperser was investigated, demonstrating improved efficiency due to flow swirling and intensified ball collision interactions. Laboratory studies of spent drilling fluids were performed, leading to the selection of N-100 as the most effective flocculant. Optimal operating conditions for dispersion and flocculation were determined, enabling liquid phase recovery of up to 70–76%. An experimental test bench was designed and assembled to validate the proposed technology and optimize process parameters. Experimental results showed a 25–40% reduction in fractionation time and a 15–30% decrease in reagent consumption. The obtained results confirm the effectiveness of the developed technology and its potential for industrial implementation.
