AP19576993 — Intensification of the process of recultivation of disturbed lands during open-pit mining due to hyperaccumulative plants and mycorrhizae"

Purpose: The aim is to intensify the process of recultivation of heavy metal-contaminated and eroded soils of disturbed lands during open-pit mining, based on a comprehensive analysis of the state of soils and vegetation, as well as the use of mycorrhiza and hyperaccumulative plants.

Relevance: Open-pit mining leads to soil degradation and heavy metal pollution. Effective reclamation using mycorrhiza and hyper-accumulator plants accelerates the restoration of soil cover and reduces pollution, which is especially important for arid regions. The introduction of such methods contributes to environmental rehabilitation and further economic use of disturbed lands.

Results obtained: The R&D work included comprehensive studies on the selection of hyperaccumulator plants and mycorrhiza suitable for the soil and climatic conditions of the Akbakay deposit. Field geobotanical and soil investigations were conducted, along with laboratory experiments on samples from disturbed and reclaimed lands. The effects of mycorrhiza and hyperaccumulator plants on reducing heavy metal content and improving soil fertility were analyzed. The proposed methodology was tested under laboratory and field conditions, confirming the effectiveness of biological reclamation. Technological recommendations were developed for the combined use of mycorrhiza and hyperaccumulator plants under arid and semi-desert climatic conditions. The results demonstrated the potential to intensify reclamation processes and improve the environmental condition of disturbed areas.
