BR11765599 — Development and improvement of natural water purification technologies and improvement of drinking water quality in the regions of Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the project: To study the quality of surface and drinking water in settlements of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including Almaty, Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and Zhetysu region, as well as the development of slow filtration technology, conducting experimental studies in pilot industrial conditions on real natural waters using natural water purification technology using a new design of water intake and treatment facilities with a purification efficiency of at least 30% in terms of turbidity, conducting experimental studies in pilot industrial conditions on real natural waters under conditions of climatic and anthropogenic changes to improve the technology of slow filtration at low-capacity facilities for natural water purification with a purification efficiency of at least 90% in terms of turbidity. Methods of crushing, demineralization and thermal activation of sodium zeolites, technologies for producing modified sorbents from natural zeolite, increasing porosity in the structure of demineralized zeolites of a pilot plant for thermal activation and modification, technical characteristics, modified sorbents and a pilot plant to bring to a production level with an improved structure. Development of an effectively functioning modern innovative technology for precipitation treatment and identification of the basic principles of innovative technology development.

The results obtained: The scientific novelty consists in conducting a full-fledged study of the quality of surface and drinking waters in Almaty, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Maysky district of Pavlodar region and the Aksu River, Zhetysu region. The theoretical substantiation of the use of slow filtration technology to provide drinking water to sparsely populated areas of Kazakhstan has been carried out. New results have been obtained from an improved water intake and treatment plant, which allows simultaneous water extraction and pre-treatment using a vacuum hydrocyclone and a mesh filter. For the first time in terms of slow filtration technology, modified zeolite was used for natural water with a purification efficiency of at least 90% in terms of turbidity under conditions of climatic and anthropogenic changes. Modified sorbents are environmentally friendly, have an extensive raw material base, and represent a prospect for extracting impurities and pollutants from solutions and natural waters. A new technological and technical solution for the production of polyoxychloride has been created, using a scientifically based coagulant. The novelty lies in the main provisions of theoretical and experimental research, on the basis of which a new innovative technology for the treatment of sewage sludge has been developed, taking into account the natural and climatic conditions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
