AP26101925 – Structural and thermal insulation concrete for 3D printing using waste plant materials

AP26101925 – Structural and thermal insulation concrete for 3D printing using waste plant materials

Objective of the projectThe economic and social development of Kazakhstan focuses on creating seismic-resistant construction materials with low metal content, reduced costs, and labor requirements, enhancing thermal insulation properties, and reducing material consumption and building weight. Emphasis is placed on accelerating technological progress in construction through energy-efficient, thermal-insulating materials made from local raw materials. The use of secondary resources is key, alongside developing energy-saving technology and a new raw material mixture for producing lightweight structural wall blocks from agricultural residues and modified local binders with improved properties.

Relevance: The relevance of the project lies in the need to develop economically and energy-efficient construction materials for low-rise buildings in Kazakhstan using local plant-based raw materials and agricultural waste. The development of structural-thermal insulation concrete for 3D printing allows reducing the weight and material consumption of buildings, improving thermal insulation properties, utilizing secondary resources, and lowering production costs, while also enhancing durability and resistance to water, fire, and chemical impacts. This approach contributes to the development of eco-friendly technologies in the construction industry and the rational use of local raw materials.

Scientific supervisor: Akmalayuly Kenzhebek, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor

Expected and achieved results:

1) publication of articles in foreign peer-reviewed scientific journals (prospective publications for the publication of the project results, the citation index of the publication, with reference to information about the publication in the corresponding scientometric database). The requirements for the number of articles based on research results are set in the competition documentation. Each article should contain information about the identification registration number and the name of the project under which it is funded, indicating grant funding as a source.

- at least 3 (three) articles and (or) reviews in peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 50 (fifty);

- at least 1 patent for an invention (including a positive decision on it);

- at least 2 (two) articles or reviews in a peer-reviewed foreign or domestic publication recommended by the CQAFSHE;

One of the articles should be classified as multidisciplinary (multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary practical application) on the tasks of enterprises from the real sector of the economy of Kazakhstan with Design documentation prepared according to the Unified System of Design Documentation (hereinafter - ESCD).

1.2) According to the results of the project implementation, at least 1 (one) doctor of sciences is trained in all branches of science PhD (PhD) or doctorate in profile (the topic of the dissertation should correspond to the topic of the project).

Based on the results of the project, one dissertation will be prepared for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), the topic of which corresponds to the subject of the project. Doctoral student, 1st year of study — Kanarbay A.U.

2) publication of monographs, books and (or) chapters in books of foreign and (or) Kazakhstani publishers;

Not planned

3) obtaining patents in foreign patent offices (European, American, Japanese), in Kazakhstan or Eurasian patent offices;

During the project implementation period, it is planned to apply for a 1 patent application with the Kazakhstan Patent Office.

4) development of scientific and technical, design documentation;

According to the results obtained, on the basis of theoretical and experimental studies, technological modes of production of thermal insulation materials based on local raw materials will be developed.

5) dissemination of the results of the work among potential users, the community of scientists and the general public;

The dissemination of research results in the publication of articles and the publication of monographs involves the dissemination of works among potential users of production workers, the business community, scientists and the general public. To scientifically substantiate and experimentally confirm the effectiveness of lightweight arbolite and mineral raw materials. Theoretically substantiate the compositions of lightweight arbolite, taking into account the criteria for evaluating raw materials.

6) other measurable results in accordance with the requirements of the tender documentation and the specifics of the project. Additionally, the section specifies:

1) scope and target consumers of each of the expected results;

The target consumers of scientific and technical research of the project are universities engaged in training students in the field of Production of building materials, undergraduates, PhD doctoral students and scientific and technical workers of research organizations, as well as business communities that can put into practice the production of lightweight arbolite for thermal insulation of buildings.

In the current year, the project will conduct a multifactorial study of structural-thermal insulation concrete made from rice husks using modern non-destructive testing equipment. The developed mixtures can be recommended for small-scale production of large-sized components using products derived from rice processing waste. The novelty of the work lies in the scientific and technological foundations for controlling the structure and properties of concretes formed by additive construction methods (3D printing).
