AP25794855 – Composite facade products made from fiber cement with TTPs ash addition

Objective of the projectThe project goal is establishing scientific and practical principles for the creation and strengthening of fiber cement facade materials using ash from thermal power plants, studying the interaction of ash with a cement matrix, and develop a sustainable and economical method for ash treatment.

Relevance: The modern construction industry faces an increasing demand for affordable, durable, and environmentally sustainable materials. The production of conventional construction materials involves high costs and intensive consumption of natural resources. At the same time, thermal power plants in Kazakhstan generate large volumes of ash annually, leading to significant environmental challenges due to inadequate disposal and low recycling rates. The lack of efficient technologies for ash utilization further exacerbates the issue. Therefore, the use of thermal power plant ash in the production of fiber cement-based composite materials represents a highly relevant approach that addresses both environmental and economic concerns.

Scientific supervisor: PhD, Assistant, Bek Aiman Askarkyzy.

Expected and achieved results: The project focuses on the use of thermal power plant ash in fiber cement composites. The chemical and mineralogical composition of ash will be determined, and its optimal dosage will be established. The rheological behavior, microstructure, and physical-mechanical properties of the composites will be investigated. Water absorption, porosity, and resistance to environmental conditions will also be evaluated. As a result, an efficient technology for producing improved and sustainable composite materials will be developed.
