National Scientific Shared-Use Laboratory of Information and Space Technologies

Objective

The primary objective of the laboratory is to provide a high-performance computing base for conducting interdisciplinary research in the fields of information and space systems, including mathematical modelling of complex physical processes, processing of large volumes of Earth remote sensing data, and training of artificial intelligence models using the resources of its own supercomputer.

Tasks

To provide high-performance computing resources and specialised software for solving mathematical modelling tasks in the aerospace sector, for the operational processing of Earth remote sensing data, for the development of machine learning algorithms, and for providing scientific teams with remote access to supercomputer resources for the implementation of interdisciplinary high-technology projects.

Main areas of activity

To conduct comprehensive research in the development of intelligent spacecraft control systems; to create digital twins of complex technical objects; to implement machine learning methods for the automated processing of satellite data; and to develop cloud-based high-performance computing technologies on the supercomputer platform for solving applied tasks in meteorology, geodesy, and national security.

Alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

SDG 4 — quality education through the training of highly qualified specialists in parallel computing;

SDG 9 — industry, innovation, and infrastructure through the development of supercomputer infrastructure and the implementation of innovations in the aerospace sector;

SDG 13 — climate action through high-precision monitoring of Earth remote sensing data and meteorological forecasting;

SDG 17 — partnership through providing scientific teams with collective remote access for the implementation of global interdisciplinary projects.
